Engineering solution:
With stakeholder involvement the works was agreed to be undertaken under 3 phases, each theatre refurbished during a 3 week holiday period. Extensive planning with all suppliers was required to ensure the 3 week on site programme could be met, which included the new air handling plant, ductwork, medical gases, UCV theatre hood, surgeon’s panel, pendant and operating lamps, and the finishes. Phase 1 and 2 were completed on time, Phase 3 works are to be undertaken during the Christmas period, 2013.
